Brotherhood Meeting Letter 1/25/2012

Brothers and Sisters in Christ;

     We hope and pray that all is well with each of you. We are very excited about the Brotherhood Meeting that will take place on July 27th and 28th in Amarillo, Texas. The Amarillo Church of Christ in Amarillo, TX together with Allison Church of Christ, Dumas Church of Christ and the Somerville Church of Christ in Pampa will be the hosts.

     The meeting will take place at the Amarillo Civic Center - Auditorium. This is located at 401 South Buchanan Street. The Auditorium is located near the center of the building on the west-side entrance. This is the same location we had the meeting in the past. The closest walk will be from the parking lot south of the Amarillo Globe News Center of Performing Arts, across Buchanan Street, west of the Civic Center.  Additional parking surrounds the entire Civic Center area. Here are ways to contact the Civic Center: www.civicamarillo.com    (806) 378-4297

     For the easiest access to the Amarillo Civic Center take the Pampa, Dumas, Downtown Exit off of Interstate 40 to the north. There are exits with these words on the sign from either direction you may be traveling, I-40 East or I-40 West.  This exit will take you directly onto Buchanan Street. You will see the Civic Center on the east side of the street.  There is a large parking lot on the west side of Buchanan Street across from the entrance to the Auditorium. We will have signs marking these areas.

     The Civic Center will open at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27th and there will be a singing from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Following that will be evangelistic reports on the work in India, Nigeria, and America. Afterwards there will be visitation and refreshments for everyone at the Ballroom of the Holiday Inn (host hotel) from 10:00 p.m. to midnight.

     A concession stand will be open on Friday night only. Water fountains and coke machines are on site as well. No food or drinks will be allowed in the auditorium. On Saturday there will be a two-hour break for lunch. Maps and information about area restaurants will be provided in your registration packets.

     The theme for this year’s meeting is THE BETTER WAY - STUDIES IN HEBREWS. Registration will begin at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 28th, for those that did not register on Friday night. We urge and encourage you to pre-register (www.amacofc.net) and a nametag will be preprinted for you. If you do not have access to a computer you can contact us by phone or regular mail (numbers and addresses on following page).

      Our host hotel, the Holiday Inn, has blocked 150 rooms at the rate of $79.00 per night, for our meeting, but additional rooms are available if we need them. These rooms will be held or blocked until June 27, 2012 after which any rooms not reserved will be opened to the general public. The Hotel is approximately 3 miles from the Amarillo Civic Center. Please make your reservations by asking for the Church of Christ Brotherhood Meeting Conference rate.  Please tell the clerk you want one of these blocked rooms and make the reservation in your own name. Make your reservations as soon as possible! Holiday Inn 1911 I-40 East, Amarillo, TX  79102 (806) 372-8741   1-877-863-4780

     We would like to personally invite everyone to attend the services of the Amarillo Church of Christ Sunday morning after the Brotherhood Meeting. We are hoping to have a large crowd and services on Sunday, July 29th will be held at the Amarillo Civic Center Auditorium (the same location as the brotherhood meeting), NOT AT THE CHURCH BUILDING.
 Brother Mark Parkhurst will be preaching and beginning a week long GOSPEL MEETING starting this day. The service times on Sunday July 29, 2012 will be at 10:30 a.m. and at 2:30 p.m. The 2:30 service will be at the new church building. The remaining services for the week will be weeknights at 7:30 p.m. at the church building, on South Western St.
